Project Linus is comprised
of hundreds of local chapters and thousands of volunteers across the United States. Each volunteer and local chapter all work
together to help us achieve our mission statement, which states:
First, it is our
mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise
in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”
Second, it is
our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities,
for the benefit of children.
Together we have distributed
over two million blankets to children in need since our inception in 1995.
PROJECT
LINUS CONTEST
HOSTED
BY LENA AUSTIN
The Prize: Lena will give a copy of ALL her eBooks presently for sale to one
person out of all those who donate a blanket or at least $10 to The Linus Project. Lena would prefer you make a blanket,
but understands that not everyone has the time.
How to
Enter the Drawing
Option one: Make a blanket and donate to one of the chapters local to you. Lena
will upload directions on how to make a no-sew fleece blanket on both of her Yahoo Groups files for those who can't quilt,
crochet, knit, or any of the other skills. Making a fleece blanket out of 1.5 yards of polar fleece takes about an hour of
your time. All "blanketeers" get double points for their hard work. Donate to your local chapter and send
Lena proof of your donation. A note from the local chapter liaison will be fine. You can scan it, email it, or mail
it to Lena. Mailing address:

PO Box 2476
Orange Park, FL 32067
Option 2: Donate at least $10 to one of Lena’s volunteer "Blanketeers"
that are standing by to make the blanket for you. You may donate via mail to the address above, or use PayPal to voiceomt2002@yahoo.com. (Please put Linus Donation in the subject line.) For every $10 you donate, you get an entry.
Lena has only two "blanketeers", so your monetary
donation may not see results as fast as making one yourself. Please spare our weary fingers and, if you have any skill with
scissors or a rotary cutter, make your own blanket.
If you have quilting, crocheting, knitting,
and other skills, I urge you to go to the Linus site. There you will find easy patterns available for use or inspiration.
Fleece kits can be purchased at local fabric stores.
The contest
will run through the entire month of March. At the end, all entries will be put in one of Dante's cowboy hats and drawn for
the big prize.
